laundry list.

there is always a little moment of surprise when i pull my laundry out of the washer and find underneath it the small pile of items that i left in my pockets or the cuffs of my jeans. last time it was an almond and three packets of green tea (my t-shirts smelled so nice!). today i found a nickel, a limp bit of clear plastic, and a grape.

I'm always charmed by what falls out of pockets in the wash. In our house, usually pebbles (we all seem to collect these), lip balm tubes (amazingly not ruined by the washer or dryer), and, of course, spare change.

I'm not sure what's more impressive-- the fact that your washing machine didn't smash the grape or the fact that you managed to unwittingly harbor a fully-formed grape on your person. I once washed a red pen along with a load of laundry, and when I discovered it after folding my white sheets & pillow cases, Philip said, "That's the definition of good luck-- washing a red pen in white linens and not having it make a single mark." Everything is relative, of course. Why don't you call me and tell me how you are? I miss you. (ps. This isn't my account. i don't have a blogger account. just e-mail me or call me or something. pps: is that Jane K I see? If you read this, e-mail me. It's becca. xoxo)
